The Home Builders Federation (HBF) has released its updated Home Building Sector Skills Plan — a long-term roadmap designed to ensure the industry has the skilled workforce needed to deliver 1.5 million new homes during this Parliament.

The new plan reflects the progress already being made across the sector while setting out bold steps to address the UK’s ongoing skills challenge. From encouraging more young people into construction careers to creating greater diversity and stronger career pathways, the plan is focused on building the capacity needed for the future.

The plan also places emphasis on several important initiatives, including:

While industry is already stepping up, the HBF is also calling for government backing. The plan urges long-term investment in training, greater flexibility in funding for further education, and the removal of barriers that currently hold employers back.

At Site Ready Solutions, we share this belief: collaboration between industry, education, and government is essential if we are to meet the UK’s housing and skills ambitions. The updated plan is an important step in the right direction — and we’re committed to playing our part.
